The Power of Seeds ——New Year's Greetings from School Board Chair Seeds are the mysterious verses written by nature, harboring boundless hope and quietly recounting the miracles of life in the long river of time. When I was a child, I lived in a rural area, a Hakka village surrounded by green mountains and clear waters, where the air was filled with the fragrance of soil and plants. There was a small courtyard in my home, which was full of flowers and plants. In spring, the pink and white peach blossoms and apricot blossoms bloomed competitively, covering the small courtyard like a floral carpet. In summer, golden rice was drying on the cement ground, and the fragrance of rice filled the air. In autumn, the flowers swayed in the autumn wind, presenting a riot of colors. In winter, fallen leaves drifted down, covering everything like a quilt, and the world was quiet and beautiful. It was in this small courtyard that I formed an indissoluble bond with seeds. Once, I found a small packet of pumpkin seeds in the corner of the courtyard. They were white and felt hard. Curious, I ran to my mother with them and asked, "Can these seeds grow into beautiful flowers?" My mother smiled, touched them, and said, "Of course they can! As long as you plant them with your heart, they will bloom into big and beautiful flowers." So, I carefully dug several small pits in the courtyard, planted the seeds, gently covered them with soil, and watered them. From then on, I would run to check on my seeds every day, eagerly hoping they would sprout soon. As days passed, the seeds seemed to be in a deep slumber, showing no signs of life. Worried, I asked my mother, "Why haven't my seeds sprouted yet? Are they sick?" My mother comforted me, saying, "Don't worry. Seeds need time to germinate. Be patient, give them enough sunlight and water, and they will surely sprout." On a sunny morning, I was pleasantly surprised to find several tender green sprouts emerging from the soil. They were small and delicate, like newly awakened babies, curiously looking around at the world. I jumped up in excitement and shouted, "The seeds have sprouted!" After that, I watered and fertilized them every day. Under my careful care, the pumpkin seedlings grew bigger day by day, becoming tall and strong. Finally, in a hot summer, the pumpkin seedlings blossomed. The golden flowers were like little suns, shining brightly in the sunlight. Later, our family moved to live in the city. In the city, there were numerous high - rise buildings, heavy traffic, and everywhere was filled with reinforced concrete structures. I often thought of the small courtyard in my hometown and those seeds that had accompanied me through wonderful times. Seeds are the hope of life and the starting point of dreams. Each seed contains infinite possibilities. As long as we water them with our heart and care for them with love, they will surely bloom into beautiful flowers. Every student is a seed with infinite potential. The essence of education is that one tree shakes another tree, one cloud pushes another cloud, and one soul awakens another soul. The earnest teachings of teachers, like a spring breeze caressing the heart, awaken the ignorant mind. The intellectual collisions in class are the seeds gathering strength; the painstaking research after class is the seeds striving to take root. Let's plant a seed of hope in our hearts and water it with our sweat and efforts. I believe that one day in the future, it will bear rich fruits. In the new year, may the care of parents and the guidance of teachers turn into sunlight and rain, helping the seeds grow vigorously and shine the most dazzling light. I wish you all good health, all the best, a harmonious family, and a life full of sunshine and hope!
